Not much to report.

Work, work, work, work, work, work, work…repeat ad infinitum. I’ve worked harder than this in the past but not very often and not for such sustained periods. The last three days I’d been in meetings from before 9am till 6pm with no time for breaks of even lunch. Not trying to play the world’s smallest violin it just helps explain why my life has such singular focus at the moment.

Situation wasn’t helped by finding my own job advertised on jobserve, whilst I assumed someone was testing something (which was proven correct) there was a momentary flash of WTF and all of my department have decided that my days are numbered…which is an interesting little dynamic to manage.

I cannot stress how much I need my holiday in September, it may take me most of the two weeks to decompress and get my brain to relax. Unfortunately I have the feeling that I’ll be getting lots of calls and may get called back in.

Umm not much else to report. I’m selling a bunch of trades, oh and my old wedding ring from my beta-test marriage. The latter is more cause I’m just curious about what it’s worth than any expectation that I’ll make my fortune :o )

Stubbornness got me to the gym this evening, so I’ve not missed a session even though it meant I didn’t leave the site till gone 7pm. Cause of my mood (if the world had balls then I’d kick it in them) I gave it the full whack and topped things off with some visualisation on the punchbag…my left hand is none too happy but I can report that my spinning backfist is still a thing of beauty.

Lucas starts pre-school in about 10 days…that’s just insane.

Busy but good weekend.

Having attacked the garden a little yesterday we nipped to B&Q to check out the shed selection (which was poor), then we went for a drive and I took Ang to a place called Saltford Locks…which funnily enough is a lock on the Kennet & Avon canal in Saltford, which is between Brizzle and Bath.

As it happened there was a canal boat coming through the Lock at the time and we all watched it progress, and even helped open the lock gates to let it out…which Ang was absolutely smitten by. Pictures over at my Flickr.

This avo we pootled around the house a little, tackled the laundry pile…it’s almost down to nothing (which is unheard of) and I picked a bunch of plums from the tree in the garden and some blackberries.

Managed to pick out about 50 trade paperbacks to sell, the money from which will go to the car/driveway fund. Speaking of which I spent a fun 30 mins finding out the wheelbase of a variety of cars to try and work them into the plan.

Also bullied my parents into having a meal to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary…it’s the same day as our BBQ and they were being very self-effacing and saying that we shouldn’t trouble ourselves, but trouble is my middle name!

My folks nicked Lucas for “a while” earlier on. I expected maybe an hour or two max…he returned a very knackered boy about 7 hrs later.

In the meantime we tackled some of the garden chores, always nicer working as a team. BBQ is all prepped for next weekend, lawn is mown and weeds pulled. Still loads to do to the house before I’ll be a happy bunny but we have a plan to make a plan (cheers G).

Tomorrow I shall be weeding out my comic collection a bit to make some more room on the shelves.

Speaking of comics, starting to get excited at the prospect of the family holiday to eastern seaboard along with comic con next March. It’s possible I am mad for planning an 8hr flight as Lucas’s first but that’s just how I roll.

Sorry for level of quiet. It’s been a very busy work week (as usual these days) and outside of work has been a bit glum thanks to Ang’s bad news about business and Lucas being mr crankypants.

Oh and I only lost 1/4lb this week, which feels like scant reward for 3 visits to the gym and 7 days dieting.

Today has not started well. My car radiator was replaced on Monday (to the tune of £300) and then this morning as I was coming over the avonmouth bridge the coolant level light came on again…so here I am 36hrs later back in the garage waiting room. I’m hoping it was just an airlock in the system and that it’s not something else.

Its gonna be a tough one as I’m due in a training course as of 9:30 so I will be cutting it fine. This week is completely chokka with meetings as it is and losing my quiet 30 Mins from half 8 till 9 will complicate matters.

Ang and Lucas have been enjoying the nice weather whilst I’ve been rueing the fact I wear a suit!

Another weigh day comes and goes. Lost 3lb this week taking me up to 11lb in 3 weeks which is a solid start. If I sound underwhelmed it’s because I weighed in earlier in the week and haven’t lost any additional weight since then, which is just a little frustrating. I’ve got another 8lb to go for my first milestone so it’d be nice to get there by say early sept.

Have managed to get to gym 3 times a week for last 5 weeks or so…which given schedule etc has been challenging to say the least.

Went a bit quiet over the weekend, there was a cider-related incident and then some recovery and now seemingly all-of-a-sudden I am back in the middle of a busy work week.

I have a dilemma (of no importance)…I don’t actually like how an earring looks on a bloke wearing a suit & tie…but I’m a bloke who wears a suit & tie five days of the week. I’m not emotionally attached to my pierced ear but I also know that the grey-suits at work hate it and if I get rid of it they’ll think they’ve won when actually I wasn’t even playing.

See, the crazy shit that goes on in my head when I’m waiting for dinner
